About CentraleSupélec

CentraleSupélec is a leading French 'Grande École' and a public research university. It operates under the joint authority of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research and the Ministry of Industry. Its core missions include educating high-level global and specialised engineers, Bachelor’s and Master of Sciences, conducting cutting-edge research in engineering and systems sciences, and providing continuing professional education programs. As part of its development, CentraleSupélec is looking for a lecturer to join its Rennes campus and conduct research within the WIPCOM team of the IETR laboratory (Institute of Electronics and Digital Technologies, UMR CNRS 6164), a team attached to the Signaling and Communications department.

The Rennes campus of CentraleSupélec offers training in the general engineering program, in the FISA track (Apprenticeship Engineering Training) and the FISE track (Student Status Engineering Training), covering the three years of the engineering study cycle. In the fall of 2025, the Rennes campus launched four specialized engineering programs, including one in "Digital Systems." The recruited candidate will have the primary mission of teaching in these programs.

Organized into six departments and thirteen thematic research teams, the IETR conducts work addressing multiple scientific challenges, mainly related to the digital transformation of society. Located in Brittany (Rennes, Saint-Brieuc, Lannion, Coëtquidan) and Pays de la Loire (Nantes, Angers, La Roche-sur-Yon), the IETR brings together over 350 collaborators from its six founding institutions: CNRS (INSIS and INS2I), CentraleSupélec, INSA Rennes, ENS Rennes, Nantes University, and the University of Rennes.

Teaching responsabilities

The recruited person will participate in teaching the following courses: wireless communications, digital communications, signal processing for communication systems, information theory, optimization theory and resource allocation, multi-user communications, communication engineering, wireless networks (5G, 6G and beyond), low-power communications, integrated sensing and communications. These courses are mainly aimed at students enrolled in the "Digital Systems" engineering program at CentraleSupélec and others at the master's level. The selected candidate will also be required to supervise student projects and internships. Finally, they must be able to teach in English.

 Research responsabilities

The WIPCOM team at IETR will host the recruited candidate. This team, part of the Signal and Communication department, is interdisciplinary, conducting fundamental and applied research on communication models that consider waves and physical coherence, performance analysis, signal processing, and optimization algorithms for efficient transmission and processing of information in communication networks. The team's research activities focus on the following main thematic areas:

•        Signal processing and information theory

•        System security

•        Energy-efficient artificial intelligence

•        Distributed processing and communications

•        Optimization of energy efficiency

The research activities of the recruited individual must align with one or more of these research areas to make significant contributions. The role will also include supervising interns, PhD students, and postdoctoral researchers, as well as participating in research projects (collaborative at national and international levels, bilateral, etc.).

Finally, candidates must demonstrate their motivation and ability to conduct international academic research by publishing their results in leading journals. They must also show their capacity to carry out research in collaboration with companies (CIFRE contracts, industrial chairs, etc.). Experience with industrial partners will be a major asset. We expect candidates to take the initiative in contributing to the development and implementation of large-scale projects (ANR projects, European projects, research projects with industrial partners, etc.).

Profile

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must hold a PhD and possess strong expertise in wireless communication, as well as in communication theory and technologies. Applications with research expertise and contributions to the modeling and optimization of intelligent surfaces for communication and sensing are strongly encouraged. Candidates should be authors or co-authors of publications in international journals (publication requirements will depend on the candidate's CV and experience).

Furthermore, they must have a passion for teaching, research (both academic and industry-funded), and teamwork, and be capable of delivering courses in English.

Interview process

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview, which consists of three stages, allowing us to assess your suitability for the position: 

1.      Candidates will present their academic background and their teaching and research project. 

2.      Each candidate will demonstrate their teaching skills by presenting a lesson in English, addressing a common problem specified in the audition invitation.  

3.      Candidates will then respond to questions from the committee members. 

The interview invitations will state the duration for each stage.
