Mission

CentraleSupélec is a leading French 'Grande École' and a public research university. It operates under the joint authority of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research and the Ministry of Industry. Its core missions include educating high-level global and specialised engineers, Bachelor’s and Master of Sciences, conducting cutting-edge research in engineering and systems sciences, and providing continuing professional education programs. As part of its development in teaching CentraleSupélec is opening a teaching-focused Lecturer position in Computer Science, to be hosted by the Computer Science Department.

The Computer Science Department contributes to teaching across the full breadth of the discipline, in all CentraleSupélec programmes as well as in Master's programmes of Université Paris-Saclay and in continuing education.

Teaching responsabilities

The selected candidate will join the Computer Science Department of CentraleSupélec and will primarily teach on the BITS Pilani Bachelor programme in Computer Science and AI at CentraleSupélec. They may also teach in the other Bachelor programmes, the engineering programme and the Master programmes in which the School participates. Their main mission will be to ensure the consistency of the Computer Science curriculum of the Bachelor of Engineering, delivered in partnership with BITS Pilani (India) and the City University of Hong Kong, both partnerships starting in September 2027, and to act as the reference point for the curriculum with all stakeholders. The teaching load corresponds to a full-time position, i.e. 384 equivalent tutorial hours (HETD) per year, spread over the academic year.

The selected candidate will be responsible for designing and deploying several third-year courses of the BITS Bachelor in “Computer Science and AI”: networking, compilers, systems architecture. They will deliver all of these courses in plenary sessions and corresponding practical classes. They will build and lead a team of instructors to implement the various teaching activities. They will define and update the learning outcomes of these courses, the teaching methods to be deployed, and produce the corresponding teaching materials. They will also teach other courses in computer science from other programs (in other bachelors and/or masters and/or the CentraleSupélec engineering programme). They must also be able to collaborate with CentraleSupélec’s corporate partners. Bachelor teaching is delivered exclusively in English.

The selected candidate must demonstrate openness and contribute to varied teaching teams. To ensure teaching quality and consistency within the Computer Science Department, they will communicate with the Head of Department according to the arrangements they define, and may rely on the support of colleagues and the team in place. Beyond the Computer Science programme, they will contribute to defining the expectations and topics covered in the engineering science activities of the Bachelor programme.

Team Dynamics and Leadership

The selected candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to the success of the international Bachelor programmes, working under the academic coordination of the Senior Professor leading the Bachelor Computer Science track, and in close collaboration with the Director of the Computer Science Department. They will take part in collective decisions on the evolution of the programme, mentor junior instructors and teaching assistants, and contribute to a unified teaching culture across partners (France, India, Hong Kong).

Profile

A PhD in Computer Science is preferred, though candidates holding a Master's degree with at least five years of substantial professional or teaching experience in the field will equally be considered.

A strong grounding in core computer science disciplines is expected — particularly computer architecture, compilers, and networking — alongside hands-on proficiency in C/C++, Java, or Python.

Full professional proficiency in English is essential (C1 level or above), as all teaching, programme coordination with our Indian and Hong Kong partner institutions, and course materials are conducted entirely in English.

Candidates should have proven experience in instructional design, including the development of course syllabi, assessment frameworks, and digital learning resources such as Moodle or other EdTech platforms.

A genuine enthusiasm for teaching and for collaborative work within an international academic setting is key to succeeding in this role.

Finally, the ability to engage meaningfully with CentraleSupélec's industry partners — whether through company-linked projects, applied research, or internship supervision — will be a valued asset.
