Mission
About CentraleSupélec
CentraleSupélec is a leading French 'Grande École' and a public research university. It operates under the joint authority of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research and the Ministry of Industry. Its core missions include educating high-level generalist engineers, conducting cutting-edge research in engineering and systems sciences, and providing continuing professional education programs. As part of its ongoing development, CentraleSupélec is opening a permanent teaching position (droit public) in the Department of Physics.
Teaching responsabilities
The successful candidate will join the Department of Physics at CentraleSupélec, which oversees all physics courses across the Bachelor's, Master's and Engineering programs.
They will be responsible for teaching physics courses to first and/or second-year Bachelor students in CentraleSupélec's Bachelor of Engineering (BoE) program. Launched in September 2023 and taught entirely in English, the program currently enrolls approximately 80 students per year. The curriculum covers a range of topics, including mechanics, electricity, thermodynamics, Maxwell's electromagnetism, transport phenomena, electromagnetic waves, and wave optics. The specific courses assigned to the successful candidate will depend on their experience and profile.
They will teach lectures in plenary sessions, seminars (TD), and laboratory sessions (TP). They will contribute to defining and updating course objectives for the physics courses, selecting appropriate teaching methods, and preparing and producing teaching materials. Additional responsibilities may include leading the seminar advisors' team, monitoring students' progress throughout a semester or academic year, and participating in the student recruitment team.
In addition to the physics program, the candidate will also help define the objectives and topics covered during the weeks devoted to engineering sciences in the Bachelor's programs. Their teaching activities may also include teaching courses in the general engineering curriculum. Combined, these responsibilities will correspond to a full teaching load of 384 HETD (equivalent teaching hours).
In addition to their work in the Department of Physics, the successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary teaching team (mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science, etc.) dedicated to the BoE programs. They will be expected to interact with the various components of the School, including other teaching departments, research laboratories, and administrative services.
